Hot off the heels of a number of successful lifestyle, wine and spirits shows, Cape Brandy represented in full force at RMB Winex 2017.
Hundreds of people made a turn past the Cape Brandy stand over the duration of the 3 day event, some even making a beeline to the stand first before any other wines were even sampled. And who could blame them. With such an array of world class Cape Brandy available to taste, it really was one of the key attractions at the show.
From the very youngest and liveliest expressions of the spirit, to wisen, complex and intriguing older versions, we had it all, a Cape Brandy for all palates. And it was fantastic to see how varied palates really are with such a variety on show.
No single Cape Brandy stood out as being a firm crowd favourite; reactions were as mixed and surprising as the unique contents inside each stylish bottle.
Die Mas Kalahari Truffel, Windfalls The Hunter, Groot Constantia’s VSOP, Mimosa Alambic 5yo, Joseph Barry VS, VS and VSOP, Backsberg 10 and 15 year old, Windmeul VSOP, Boschendal XO, Tokara 5yo, Louiesenhof Marbonne, Kaapzigcht 15 yo, Ladismith 8yo and upland’s standard XO , made up the 16 incredible products on show over the course of the event.
Easily the most Cape Brandy that has ever been on display together in one place and the overwhelming response from show goers is yet another feather in the cap for collective co-promotion of this fine spirit.
As with last years show, Cape Brandy had a table booked in the RMB Winex private tasting room, an intimate gathering of just 10 wine and spirit lovers, for an introduction to Cape Brandy experience.
Yet again this year, we paired different Cape Brandy with DV’s fabulous Bean to Bar 70% dark chocolate. All 30 people reached during this experience had only good things to say about the brandy, chocolate and pairing match ups.
Overall another very successful show for Cape Brandy, we look forward to the next one, Tops at Spar wine show happening in Cape Town on December 16th 2017
